VATD 2014 Conference
THE TESTING PRISM: REFLECTIONS IN VIRGINIA
VATD 2014 will have a superintendents’
panel discussing assessment concerns from their points of view, chaired
by Stewart Roberson, former superintendent of schools in Hanover, who
has worked with Shelley on the Innovation Committee. Panelists will
include the current superintendents of Hanover County (Dr. Jamielle
Wilson); Henry County, (Dr. Jared Cotton); and Charlottesville City
(Dr. Rosa Atkins).
Other speakers will include VDOE staff on
current Virginia assessments as well as other experts in ability
testing, classroom assessments, and benchmark testing.
We are asking that conference participants
submit proposals for breakout sessions that will cover the range of
duties of the DDOT in preparing for, conducting, using, and reporting
test results in your school district. Assessments to consider would be
benchmark tests, classroom assessments, group ability tests, PSAT/SAT,
and of course, the SOL assessments. Other ideas to consider: How is
your school system using student achievement in teacher and
administrative personnel evaluations? Do you have any "tips of the
trade" for newer DDOTS to manage testing programs successfully? Does
your division use classroom, teacher, or parent survey data for
decision making? Do you have a partnership with one of the testing
vendors to assist you in your district testing program? Share your best
practices with others! All presenters receive a discounted registration
of only $45.00 per person. Sessions will be 50 minutes in length
including time for questions and answers. Deadline for submitting
proposals is Oct 7. Go to https://www.conferencesolutionsllc.com/meeting_participants/register?meeting_id=68 to submit a proposal.
Please come back here often for the latest
updates and be sure to pass this information on to others in your
Division who might be interested.
We look forward to continued learning with you!
Glen Miller, President, VATD
